Board Offers County Attorney Position To Texas Man

Sibley, Iowa — The Osceola County Board of Supervisors has offered the Osceola County Attorney position to a man currently practicing law in Plano, Texas, and he has accepted the position.

According to the Osceola County Auditor’s office, the board has offered the position to Nolan McGowan, who is a 2014 Drake Law School graduate.

McGowan will start on or before August 15th.

The search for a new county attorney began after current Osceola County Attorney Bob Hansen announced he would retire from the position as of July 21st, 2017. Hansen says he will be moving to Colorado after 21 and a half years as Osceola County Attorney.

The auditor’s office says a 28E agreement is in the works with another county to share the services of their county attorney for a few weeks between when Hansen retires and McGowan starts.
