Boyden Man Arrested, Accused Of Stealing Firearms

Boyden, Iowa — A Boyden man has been arrested in connection with a case of stolen firearms.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a report of stolen firearms on Tuesday, October 29th. The theft reportedly occurred from a vehicle and a residence on Kennedy Avenue, three miles south of Boyden.

Upon further investigation, deputies determined someone stole a DPMS Panther .223 caliber rifle, a Mossburg 20 gauge shotgun, a Ruger .22 caliber rifle and a Beretta 12-gauge shotgun from a pickup, machine shed and home owned by John Pfingsten of Boyden.

Through the investigation, deputies located the stolen firearms in the possession of 22-year-old Lance De Jong of Boyden.

On Wednesday, October 30, De Jong was arrested on charges of Second Degree Theft and Third Degree Burglary.

According to jail records, he was released the next day after posting a $5000 unsecured bond.
