Boyden Man Arrested After Authorities Say He Rammed A Minivan Several Times With A Pickup

Sioux Sheriff Car 84-Boyden, Iowa — A Boyden man has been arrested on several charges after authorities say he rammed his pickup into a minivan several times.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a report of a disturbance on Wednesday (9/11/13) that occurred at a residence two miles northeast of Boyden. Upon further investigation, deputies allege that 32-year-old Leslie Spaans of Boyden, intentionally drove a 2009 Nissan pickup into a 2001 Pontiac Montana minivan several times during the course of a domestic dispute at the residence. Five children and one adult were inside the minivan reportedly attempting to escape at the time when Spaans’ vehicle was striking it. The driver and occupants of the van were able to safely drive away to another location.

No injuries were reported.

Deputies arrested Spaans at the residence on charges of aggravated domestic assault, five counts of child endangerment and reckless driving.
