Harrisburg, South Dakota — A Canton teen was killed Sunday morning when her car collided head-on with an SUV driven by a Harrisburg woman.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol says 16-year old Alysen Voss of Canton was driving a 2004 Chevy Cavalier northbound on South Dakota Highway 11 when she lost control of the car, which then entered the southbound lane and collided head-on with a 2015 Chevy Traverse, driven by 41-year old Brandi Brouwer of Harrisburg.
Troopers say that Voss, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. Brouwer was wearing a seatbelt and suffered minor injuries. She was taken by ambulance to a Sioux Falls hospital.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate. Other agencies at the scene were the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Harrisburg Fire Department and Paramedics Plus.
