Celebration Planned For Spring For Hawarden Healthcare Project

Hawarden, Iowa — Construction is very close to complete in Hawarden on a $14 million hospital construction and renovation project.

Hawarden Regional Healthcare Administrator Jayson Pullman gives us an update on the project for which planning began several years ago.

He says the celebration will probably be in the spring of 2018.

According to Pullman, one of the services that they will soon be able to offer after new construction is 3D mammograms.

Previously, he says they had to do mammograms on a specially-built truck that would come to the hospital periodically. He says they’re adding outreach services and expanding their operating room to keep services close to home for area residents.

Pullman says of the $14 million price tag, $8.8 million came from a USDA Rural Development Loan, $2 million came from local bank participation, $2.5 million came through fundraising, and the rest will come through equity.
