Northwest Iowa — This is National Fire Prevention Week.
We had a chance to talk to Orange City Fire Chief Denny Vander Wel recently. He says the the push this year is for smoke alarms in every bedroom.
But we also talked about some fire hazards in the home. He says that although space heaters have more safeguards than they used to, you still need to be careful when using them.
He says if you have to use one, make sure to take some precautions.
