Is Children’s World a non-profit or for-profit business? How is it that they are allowed to operate in the red? What stake does the city have in the business? Im not trying to be snarkey here, but I wasnt around when this was being formed…

Sheldon can be VERY proud of Children’s World. The city and county need to consider it as a community service and helpful for economic development. All child care centers struggle and without the support of the city, county, and school they end of closing which has happened in several communities–one such center was open for over 30 years and without investment of local entities it ended up closing.

I was involved when Sheldon first wanted a center then was amazed at the business leaders that made it happen—-Whatever it takes—keep it open–children and families need your center!! Your businesses and employees need the center!! I suggest a joint meeting of leaders to figure out HOW to make it happen—do NOT lose your excellent center.

Can I suggest cutting out the receptionist’s position? I have been in children’s world often enough to see that the two main people working are the manager and financial person. The receptionist seems to be doing jobs that can be farmed out to other employees. I’m not saying that the receptionist is a poor worker, far from it, just the things I’ve seen her doing seem better suited to one of the teachers or aides.

I believe that is what they already charge but believe raising it above that is not feasible

The large non-in-home daycare in Sioux Center charges $3.00 an hour plus meal expenses right now. You contract your hours and pay regardless of attendance that week. So I don’t know why Children’s World thinks this is amount is unreal? A friend of mine who helps run the large non-in-home daycare in a certain western Sioux County town states the common financial problems are parents who are not paying on time/making partial payments/missing payments. Causing the day care to always be in the hole.
