City Set To Hire New SCDC Director
Date posted - December 3, 2013
Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council will consider approving the hiring of a new Economic Development Director during their meeting Wednesday afternoon. The new Director will fill the vacancy left when former Director Mark Gaul left the position in early September, to accept a similar job in Orange City. Since that time the SCDC and the Council agreed that the new Director would be an employee of the City rather than the SCDC, and would, therefore, be eligible for City employment benefits. It was the opinion of the Council that such an arrangement would make the position more desirable to the most highly qualified applicants. In the interim, the City has been seeking a new Development Director. That search is scheduled to come to an end at Wednesday’s meeting.
Also at Wednesday’s meeting, the Council is scheduled to appoint a new City Clerk, and Deputy Clerk. These appointments were made necessary by the retirement of current City Clerk Arlene Budden. Her last day in that capacity will be January 3, 2014.
Wednesday’s Sheldon City Council meeting begins at 4:30 in Council Chambers at the Sheldon Community Services Center.
