Colorectal Cancer Educational Open House Is Thursday

Sheldon, Iowa — It’ll be fun. And it might just help save your life or the life of someone you care about. That’s how a colorectal cancer community education open house is being billed here in Sheldon.

Sanford Sheldon Physician, Dr. Ryan Becker says it’s a very important topic.

He tells us about the Thursday event. (March 22)

He says that most colon cancer cases are treatable if detected early. He says that once you turn 50, you should get screened. And there are a number of available screening methods.

Dr. Becker says there’s no reason to fear the colonoscopy procedure. He says that it is done under general anesthesia, meaning that you are asleep for the actual screening.

Light snacks, refreshments, and prizes will be offered at Thursday’s open house, which again is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Crossroads Pavillion Event Center.
