Rock Rapids, Iowa — The Rock Rapids City Council is in the process of selecting someone to fill some big shoes.
Rock Rapids Economic Development Director John Hulshof has been instrumental in several development projects since taking the position in August, 2008. Before that, Hulshof worked for Frontier Bank. Hulshof announced in March that he intends to retire in August of this year, after eight years at the helm of the Rock Rapids Development Corporation.
The Rock Rapids City Council advertised the position as “assistant [city] administrator for economic development”. Applications were due on April 15th.
Rock Rapids City Administrator Jordan Kordahl says that the process is ongoing, and city council members continue to review applicants. After their regular meeting on Monday, the council went into closed session to continue discussions regarding applicants for the position.
