Council To Hold Pair Of Public Hearings Wednesday

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council will meet this Wednesday, October 18th with two public hearings.

The first will be on the issuance of general obligation capital loan notes not to exceed $850-thousand. This will be used to provide funds to pay the costs of construction of public improvements for a new industrial park. The second hearing will be on urban renewal revenue capital loan notes not to exceed $1,250,000. This will be used for the carrying out of urban renewal projects, including a grant or lease to the Sheldon Chamber and Development Corporation.

In other action, the Council will consider approval of a resolution approving a preliminary official statement on general obligation capital loan notes in the amount of $4,380,000. This will provide funds for several projects including the new wastewater treatment facility, 16th Street improvements and construction of public improvements for a new industrial park.

The council agenda also includes approval of the third quarter ambulance uncollectible accounts.  Ambulance billings for this three-month period total $59,911.  City officials say $25,853 of this total will be written off as uncollectible. The council also will consider an increase in ambulance rates.

Wednesday’s council meeting begins at 4:30 in the upper level of the Sheldon Community Services Center.
