Council To Hold Public Hearing On Trilogy Sale

Sheldon, Iowa — A public hearing on a proposal to sell all the remaining lots in the Trilogy Addition will be held when the Sheldon City Council meets this Wednesday May 16th.  Poppema-Sikma Construction wants to purchase the three lots for a total of fifty thousand dollars, subject to some conditions.  Poppema-Sikma will be required to pay all legal fees and similar costs associated with the transaction.  A single family residence must be constructed on each lot and be completed by December 31st, 2020.  The total improvements on each lot will have an assessed value of $250,000  or more.

The council also includes consideration of a Minimum Assessment Agreement for a Sudbeck Trucking Project.  The Trucking Company indicates that they intend to retain their existing 52 employees, while adding approximately 15 more.

The council will also set the date and time for a public hearing on the rezoning of 1202 South 3rd Avenue.  The rezoning request comes from the Planning and Zoning Commission in response to a request from Sheldon Grain to change the zoning from Multi-family Residential to Arterial Commercial.

The council will also set the date and time for a public hearing on the re-zoning  of 1302 and 1304 South 3rd Avenue.  This request also comes from Planning and Zoning, who gave their approval to a request from Jim Talsma to change the zoning on the two locations from Commercial Residential to Arterial Commercial. J.T. Trucking wants to construct a building for storage at that location.

And, the council will hear a presentation by O’Brien County Development Director, Kiana Johnson.  The last item on the agenda is a discussion of employee benefits, which will be held in Closed Session.

Wednesday’s meeting will begin at 4:30 pm in the upper level of the Sheldon Community Services Center.
