Council To Take Final Step On Events Center Loan Notes

Events Center 10Sheldon, Iowa — When the Sheldon City Council meets this Wednesday (June 15th), they will act on the final step in the approval of Capital Loan Notes to help finance the City’s new Event Center.  The agenda will also include a resolution of support for an application for State funds to help finance the Recreational Trails near the Events Center and Borrow pit.  The total cost of the project is estimated at $326,692.93.  The City’s responsibility will be to make available $81,674 in funding, with the grant application to fund the remaining 75 percent.

In other business, the Council will set the date and time for a public hearing regarding a rezoning request,  consider a proposal from the SCDC for a housing program, and consider the second reading of a change in the Water and Sewer Ordinance.  If adopted this ordinance would increase water and sewer rates by three percent.

Wednesday’s meeting will begin at 4:30 pm in the upper level of the Sheldon Community Services Center.
