Emergency Services Equipment Purchases a Major Topic at Today’s Sheldon City Council Meeting

Sheldon, Iowa — When the Sheldon City Council meets Wednesday January 2nd for their first meeting of the new year, they will handle some routine agenda items, such as designating the official newspapers for 2019, and the deposit of city funds.

Some other items are not so routine.  The council will be asked to accept the resignation of Crossroads Pavilion General Manager Brittany Behrendsen, and approve the job posting and job description for her position.  The council then will consider a suggestion from the Crossroads Pavilion Board for the appointment or hiring of an interim General Manager and assistance for that interim manager.   That discussion could possibly be held in a closed session.

In other business, the council will hear a report from Recreation Director Jake Kerr, and will be asked to approve an engagement agreement for financing of emergency services equipment.  The first option is a $550-thousand note for the purchase of a new fire truck, and the second option is a $650-thousand note that would allow the city to purchase two police cars, in addition to the new fire truck.

The council will hear a statistics report from the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team, followed by discussing  SCAT’s vision for the future, and the need for a replacement or additional ambulance.

Wednesday’s council meeting will begin at 4:30 in the upper level of the Sheldon Community Services Center.
