County Conventions Are Saturday

DonkephantNorthwest Iowa — Democrat and Republican party activists will be attending County Conventions in their individual Iowa counties this Saturday (March 12th).

At the individual County Conventions the delegates who were selected during February’s County Caucuses will bring the proposed platform planks that they have received, to be reviewed by the County Convention.  These planks will be discussed, and those that are chosen to be moved forward in the process will be fine-tuned and prepared to advance.

Candidates for office on this fall’s ballot will also have an opportunity to speak at their party’s convention Saturday.  In addition, each County Convention will choose their delegates to their party’s State Convention.

In O’Brien County, both the Democrat and Republican County Conventions will be held at the O’Brien County Courthouse.  The Democrat Convention will be held at 10:00 am Saturday in the 1st Floor Assembly Room, while the Republicans will hold their County Convention at 2:00 pm Saturday in the County Courtroom, which is located on the 3rd floor of the O’Brien County Courthouse at Primghar.

In Osceola County, the Democrat County Convention will get underway at 2:00 pm at the Sibley Senior Center, while the Republicans will hold their County Convention in at 9:00 am in the Osceola County Courthouse in Sibley.

Sioux County Republicans will hold their convention in the Courtroom of the Sioux County Courthouse at 9:00 am Saturday, while the Sioux County Democrat Convention will be held at 9:30 am at the Sioux Center Public Library.

Lyon County Republicans will hold their convention at 1:00 Saturday afternoon at the courthouse in Rock Rapids, while the Lyon County Democrats will hold their convention at the Forster Community Center at 1:00 Saturday afternoon.
