Court Dates Postponed Again In Sheldon Burglary Case

Sheldon, Iowa — A Boyden man who was arrested in Sheldon in July on a felony burglary warrant has had his pretrial conference and trial postponed again.

According to the Sheldon Police Department, 36-year old Casey VandenBosch faces a charge of 3rd Degree Burglary, which is a Class D Felony. Police say the charges stem from the investigation into an incident that took place in western Sheldon this summer, in which someone entered a house through a window.

Police say VandenBosch was booked into the O’Brien County Jail following his arrest.

According to online court records, VandenBosch filed a written plea of “not guilty.”

Judge Nancy Whittenburg originally scheduled the pretrial conference for Tuesday, September 26th. At the time, she also scheduled the jury trial for Tuesday, October 24th, both at the O’Brien County Courthouse in Primghar. The pretrial conference was then postponed until Friday, October 6th. Then it was postponed until October 23rd. Now, after VandenBosch recently waived his right to a speedy trial, the pretrial conference has been pushed into 2018. It’s scheduled for January 16th, with the trial at this point scheduled for February 20th.
