Crossroads Industrial Park and Proposed New Housing Area Included In SCDC Report to Sheldon City Council
Date posted - September 21, 2012
Sheldon, Iowa — When Sheldon’s Development Director, Mark Gaul presented his semi-annual SCDC report to the City Council this past week, it indicated the ongoing growth and development of the city.
Gaul told the council that the street into the new Crossroads Industrial Park is being poured, and Ziegler Cat has started construction with the anticipation of opening in the spring. He also said that they have developed marketing materials and have attended a trade show recently where they were able to present Crossroads Industrial Park to the attendees. In addition, Northwest Iowa Development has funded marketing a virtual spec building for that area. They have also platted the remainder of the Runger Light Industrial Park with the lots available for sale.
A new housing area is also in the plans. The SCDC is currently working on a recommendation at the request of the City Council for a housing development at Sheldon Crossing along with estimated development costs.
Gaul also reported that they are working with a prospect on the remaining lot in the former O’Brien County Implement property.
And, he reminded the council and the public that the SCDC has many programs to assist businesses and property owners. This includes the storefront program which has assisted six storefront improvement programs so far this year. They also have a housing rehabilitation program, and a revolving loan fund with $450,000 available to assist businesses with financing. Gaul ended his report by saying…. “The SCDC is here to help people looking to start a business, expand a business, purchase a business, etcetera. No matter how small or large the project, I encourage the person to contact me at the SCDC to let us help you get to the resources available to assist.”
