Sheldon, Iowa — Curt Strouth will be Sheldon’s new Development Director. Strouth, who is currently serving as Rec Director was approved to the new position by the Sheldon City Council at their Wednesday meeting. Blake Beahler, representing the search committee told the council that they had interviewed four candidates for the position. They selected Strouth based on his proven record of accomplishments in the Rec Director position and previous experience in Rock Valley. His annual salary has been set at $61,500.00.
Then, the Council approved the appointment of Angela Beckman as City Clerk, replacing Arlene Budden who is retiring. Beckman has been working in the City Office for seventeen years. In addition to her position as deputy city clerk she has also assisted the City of Archer for a period of time in that position. She will begin her new position January 6th at a salary of sixty thousand dollars per year. After a satisfactory six-month probation period that will be increased to $62,500.00. Pat Meester will now fill the deputy City Clerk position along with other City office responsibilities. These appointments will create an opening for a new Sheldon Recreation director as well as an opening for a new employee in the City office.
