Deadline Approaching For Removal Of Ice Fishing Shelters

Northwest Iowa — Spring may still be a ways off, but the Iowa Department of Natural Resources says the deadline is rapidly approaching to remove your permanent ice fishing shelters from area waters.

The DNR says all permanent shelters must be removed from all state-owned lands and waters by February 20th.

Ice shelter owners are encouraged not wait until the last minute to get the shelter off the ice. DNR officials remind ice shelter owners that should your shelter fall through the ice, you’ll be responsible for getting it out of the lake.

Again, that deadline is Tuesday, February 20th.
