Deadline To Register For Conservation Tour Is July 6th

young soybean plants in fieldO’Brien County, Iowa — The O’Brien/Cherokee Soil & Water Conservation Districts (SWCD) will host its annual Conservation Tour on Thursday, July 14th at 4:30 p.m.  This year’s tour will be held at the Iowa State University Northwest Research and Demonstration Farm located 1 1/2 miles south of Calumet and 1/4 mile east on B62.

During the tour, folks will be riding on flat racks looking at six different research plots including a surface runoff study, tile water quality study, water table monitoring, cover crop x nitrogen rate, cover crop variety trial, and cover crop seeding trial for corn and soybeans.

Following the tour, a meal will be served at the research farm courtesy of the Cherokee and O’Brien Soil & Water Conservation Districts.

If you would like to participate in the tour please notify Deb Rohrbaugh at 712-757-3835 extension #3 by July 6th for a meal count.  If you need accommodations, please notify Deb by July 6th.  The commissioners look forward to your attendance.  There is no charge to attend.
