Dordt And Northwestern Continue To Rank High

Sioux County, Iowa — The two Sioux County Christian institutes of higher learning continue to do well in the annual rankings from U.S. News & World Report.

Dordt College in Sioux Center, which will change its name to “Dordt University” next year was named the top Iowa college in the rankings of “2019 Regional Colleges-Midwest” for the second year in a row, and Northwestern College in Orange City ranked right below at seventh place — tied with a school in Ohio.

Chief administrative officer at Dordt Howard Wilson says that Dordt is honored by this ranking He says that it is due to the dedicated work of Dordt’s faculty and staff, who seek to provide a great education for their students.

Greg Christy, Northwestern College’s president says that they are pleased to see that the high quality of a Northwestern education has been affirmed by a strong ranking from U.S. News. He says their graduates and students consistently praise the strength of the Northwestern experience. This and other recognition from organizations like College Consensus, Forbes and Money magazine…add external validation to the excellence of Northwestern’s academic program.

Dordt was also ranked the second most innovative regional college in the Midwest. Northwestern was also one of nine Midwestern regional colleges selected for Best Undergraduate Teaching.

The U.S. News rankings are based on key measures of quality such as academic reputation; retention (freshman retention and graduation rate); faculty resources (including class size, the percentage of faculty with the top academic degree, student-faculty ratio and compensation); student excellence; financial resources; alumni giving; and social mobility.
