Sioux County, Iowa — For the second year in a row, Dordt College in Sioux Center is ranked sixth on the U.S. News & World Report’s list of Best Regional Colleges in the Midwest. Tied with Dordt for sixth place is Northwestern College in Orange City. This is the seventh year in a row for Northwestern to be in the top 10 of its category.
Dordt College President Dr. Erik Hoekstra says the rankings are just one small piece of the puzzle when it comes to characterizing a Dordt College education. He says that the rankings are important for what they say about Dordt’s reputation and how the college measures up against certain benchmarks, but there’s much more to Dordt than the strong academic program, says Hoekstra. He says Dordt is about helping students learn and develop as faithful disciples of Christ, and to work toward Christ-centered renewal in all areas of life.
Northwestern College President Greg Christy says that the U.S. News ranking, along with high rankings from Washington Monthly and Forbes, affirm what Northwestern alumni and students say about the quality of education Northwestern provides. He says the ranking is yet another indicator of the strength of their faculty and their commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring students.
Ranking third on the same list was another nearby school — Augustana College in Sioux Falls.
