Drowsy Driving Causes Injury Accident Near Harris

Harris, Iowa — An Emmetsburg man was taken to the hospital after an accident near Harris on Thursday (9/20).
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 6 AM, 60-year-old Randall Steven Hanson of Emmetsburg was driving a 2006 Ford Ranger pickup westbound on Highway 9, about a half mile east of the Harris turn off.
Apparently Hanson fell asleep and his pickup entered the south ditch. Hanson’s vehicle exited the south ditch, crossed over Highway 9 and then entered the north ditch where it came to rest on the passenger side.
Hanson was taken to the Osceola Community Hospital by Ocheyedan Ambulance.
His vehicle sustained approximately $5,000 damage.
He was ticketed for Failure to Maintain Control.
