Feenstra Will Run For Senate District 2
Date posted - March 1, 2012
State Senator Randy Feenstra of Hull has thrown his hat in the ring for Senate District 2.
But it won’t quite be the same district.
Feenstra officially filed his nomination papers with Iowa Secretary of State Matt Schultz this week and pledged to run an aggressive campaign to represent the new Senate District 2, which includes all of Sioux, O’Brien and Cherokee Counties and the eastern four townships in Plymouth County. While some of that territory is new, the district does not include Lyon County, which Feenstra now represents.
Feenstra says he remains committed to transforming government by making it more effective and efficient. He also says he pledges to his constituents that he will work hard at creating more economic opportunity and strong school systems. The candidate says there is a lot of work still ahead when it comes to making Iowa’s tax system fairer and more competitive so that employers can create more jobs and Iowans can keep more of their hard-earned dollars.
Beside his work in the Senate, Feenstra, a lifelong resident of Sioux County, is the Insurance Manager at the Iowa State Bank in Hull. Prior to that, he served two years as the Sioux County Treasurer. He was also the Hull City Manager for seven years and the Sales Manager at the Foreign Candy Company, headquartered in Hull. Feenstra has a Bachelors degree from Dordt College and a Masters of Public Administration from Iowa State University.

Feenstra is also active in his community and church as he currently serves on the Board of Trustees at Dordt College, Sioux Center Executive hospital board and sits on several foundation boards. He has been a Sunday school teacher for over 16 years and previously served as an EMT for 14-yeas. He is actively involved in the Hull Kiwanis club, having served as both President and Treasurer. Feenstra is married to his wife Lynnette of 16 years and they have four children: Taylor, Erika, Dawson and Savannah.
Feenstra, who was first elected in 2008 and currently represents all of Lyon County and most of Sioux and Plymouth Counties, is excited about bringing his optimistic message and hardworking grassroots campaign to every community and in every county with the goal of bringing about a new direction for Iowa and a brighter future for children and grandchildren.
“I look forward to meeting and working with constituents of the new senate district as well as continuing to work with those I already represent,” Feenstra concluded.
