Sheldon, Iowa — This is National FFA Week. High schoolers across northwest Iowa and the nation are celebrating everything FFA.
We talked to Sheldon High School FFA Advisor Gene Bomgaars who told us how students are marking the week at Sheldon High.
The acronym “FFA” used to stand for “Future Farmers of America.” But Bomgaars tells us they moved away from that moniker several years ago because they are not only future farmers but future biologists, chemists, veterinarians, and so forth. He tells us what it is that FFA does today.
Several activities are planned to mark National FFA Week at high schools across the KIWA listening area.
