Fire Damages Pig Building Near Hull

Hull, Iowa — Firefighters from two communities responded to the call of a fire in a pig building on a farm near Hull early Thursday afternoon.

According to authorities, the call came in about 12:50 Thursday afternoon of a pig building on fire at 3140 340th Street, two miles southwest of Hull.

Authorities say that, upon arriving, responders discovered a fire in the southeast side of the building, and were able to extinguish the blaze a short time later.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

According to authorities, the building did not contain animals at the time of the blaze, and damage was estimated at about $15-thousand.

The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical system malfunction.

The Hull Fire Department was assisted by the Sioux Center Fire Department, Hull Ambulance, and the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
