First Appearance of SERGEANT Kurtz On KIWA Morning Show

Sheldon, Iowa — Iowa State Patrol Trooper Vince Kurtz made his first appearance on the KIWA Morning Show Thursday since being promoted to sergeant in late November.

Kurtz explained the role of his new rank to Wayne & Aaron.

Sergeant Kurtz says part of his new duties include scheduling and evidence handling.

He talks about how his promotion came about.

Prior to his promotion, Trooper Kurtz served as the Public Resource Officer for Iowa State Patrol Post 6, which is headquartered in Spencer. He served in that capacity for 14 years. In that role Kurtz began making a monthly appearance on the KIWA Morning Show about 4 years ago, in a segment that was very popular with the listening audience, eliciting  numerous traffic law questions from listeners each time he appeared on the show.

In the wake of his promotion, Sergeant Kurtz says a new Public Resource Officer will be chosen, but he says he’s unaware of the timetable for filling that position.

Sergeant Kurtz, along with his wife and three daughters, continue to reside in Orange City.
