Sheldon, Iowa — As a special “thank you” to all the veterans and active duty military personnel in our area, KIWA Radio and Dave’s Auto Wash will be offering free car washes to veterans and active duty military on Monday, Veteran’s Day morning. Stop by Dave’s Auto Wash on Highway 18 west in Sheldon between 9 AM and noon Monday, and we’ll wash your car for free. You are asked to bring proof of military service.
We talked with KIWA Program Director Tom Traughber, and asked him what made KIWA want to honor veterans in this way.
Traughber says he’s glad the station is remembering veterans.
He says it’s easy for veterans to take advantage of the free offer.
Details are below.
KIWA says “Thank you for your service!!”
We have also been advised that RIDES of northwest Iowa will be providing free transportation for all veterans on Monday, November 11th in celebration of Veterans Day. Executive Director Hugh Lively encourages all veterans to join them as RIDES honors them with a free trip. Lively expressed his gratitude and stated RIDES is pleased to have the opportunity to give back to the local veterans.
He says it’s their pleasure to provide the trip whether it’s for lunch with a friend or family member or a needed doctors appointment.
Rides will provide the trips in their nine-county service area including the Lakes, Spencer, Storm Lake, Estherville, Emmetsburg, Sheldon, Rock Rapids, Sioux Center and Hawarden.
