Date posted - June 26, 2013

cow-sxcRock Rapids, Iowa — How about a free supper, fun for the kids, and a little entertainment for yourself as well? Tonight, the Western Iowa Dairy Alliance will celebrate the sixth annual June Dairy Month open house.

This year’s event will be at Multi-Rose Jerseys dairy farm near Rock Rapids, owned and operated by the Metzger families. We talked to LeAnne Philips with the Western Iowa Dairy Alliance, who gives us an idea of what to expect.

She tells us why they are doing such an event.

Part of that tour, she says, includes an introduction to the 40-cow carousel milking platform. Philips tells us about the Metzgers and Multi-Rose Jerseys.

She says there’s also lots of other technology people can see at the farm.

Plus, don’t forget that free supper.

All parking for the event will be at Central Lyon High School in Rock Rapids, with free shuttles running from 4 until 7.
