Freeze Warning Tonight…..Move Or Cover Outdoor Plants

Freeze2Northwest Iowa — A cold front has pushed into the Hawkeye State, and is bringing with it the first widespread frost, and possibly freeze, of the season.

The KIWA listening area is under a Freeze Warning tonight, and National Weather Service Meteorologist Brad Fillbach says today’s temperatures in the upper 40’s are forecast to plummet overnight.

He says freeze warnings and frost advisories are typically only issued once, at this time of year, as a courtesy to people who have outdoor plants or gardens.

The cool temperatures will persist Thursday before a gradual warmup into the weekend.

Fillbach says you will need to either bring your plants inside overnight tonight, or cover them to protect them from the freezing temperatures.  The Freeze Warning for the KIWA listening area runs from 1:00 am until 9:00 am tomorrow (Thursday, October 13th).
