George Man Arrested On Felony Drunk Driving Charge

drunk driving OWI DWI iStockGeorge, Iowa — A George man has been arrested on felony drunk driving charges.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that this past Wednesday, November 13th, they arrested 54-year-old Mark A. Kruse of George.

A Lyon County Deputy was on patrol in George at about 6:45 PM when he noticed a blue Chevy Cavalier traveling west in the 200 block of county road A34. The deputy had prior knowledge that Kruse, who was driving the car, did not have a valid Iowa driver’s license.

Kruse was pulled over in the grocery store parking lot. Upon further investigation it was determined that Kruse was intoxicated. He was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated, Third Offense, a class D felony; and Failure to have a valid driver’s license, a simple misdemeanor.

He was booked into the Lyon County Jail and his bond was set at $5,000.

If convicted, Kruse could face five years in prison and a fine between $750 and $7500.
