Sioux City, Iowa — A George man — the other member of a pair of northwest Iowa men who faced multiple felony drug charges following the execution of a search warrant at a rural George residence — will serve over eight years in federal prison without the possibility of parole.
In June of 2018, Lyon County Sheriff’s Office deputies say that they, along with officers from multiple other agencies, executed a drug search warrant on a residence northeast of George. Deputies say as a result of that search warrant, two individuals were taken into custody and transported to the Lyon County Jail.
State charges including two counts of Delivery of Methamphetamine, both Class “B” Felonies; one count of Delivery of Marijuana, a Class “D” Felony; one count of Possession With Intent to Deliver Marijuana, a Class “D” Felony; as well as a Drug Tax Stamp Violation against 43-year-old Clint Reiter of George, were dismissed less than two months after they were filed. But Lyon County Attorney Shayne Mayer tells us that the charges were only dismissed as he was federally indicted in the Northern District of Iowa on conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine charges.
Federal charges included Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance, and two counts of Distribution of a Controlled Substance.
Reiter originally pleaded not guilty, but changed his plea in a plea bargain. He was sentenced on the conspiracy charge and the other two were dismissed.
Reiter faces 104 months in federal prison, which is eight years and eight months. There is no parole in the federal system. In addition, he’ll face six years of supervised release after he is released.
Also arrested was (now) 40-year old Cory Reiter, of Sibley, who was charged with two counts of Delivery of Methamphetamine, Class “B” Felonies; and one count of Delivery of Marijuana, a Class “D” Felony. He was also recently sentenced, but in Lyon County District Court. Cory Reiter will serve a 20-year prison term in state prison, but there IS parole in the state system.
