George Woman Injured In Accident North Of George

lyon co ambulance sideGeorge, Iowa — A George woman was taken to a hospital after an accident north of George on Friday, January 24, 2014.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 10:40 AM, 27-year-old Daniel Kronbach of Lamberton, Minnesota was northbound on L14, two miles north of George in a 2000 Peterbilt semi-tractor pulling a trailer loaded with feeder pigs. Sixty-three-year-old Cheryle Lichtenberg of George was driving southbound on L14 in a 1999 Audi.

The report says Lichtenberg fell asleep and crossed the centerline. Lichtenberg struck the driver’s side of Kronbach’s truck and trailer causing both vehicles to become disabled.

Lichtenberg suffered injuries in the accident and was extracted from her vehicle by the George emergency personnel. She was then transported to Sanford Rock Rapids Hospital by the Lyon County Ambulance.

Kronbach’s vehicle sustained an estimated $6000 in damages and Lichtenberg’s vehicle received an estimated $5000 in damages. Six pigs were found later to have died in Kronbach’s trailer.

The George Fire Department, the George Emergency Medical Services, and the Lyon County Ambulance assisted the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
