Date posted - July 27, 2012
The Lyon County Ambulance was called to an emergency call at the pool. Lyon County Sheriff Blythe Bloemendaal says the call came in about 7:30 PM.
He says 11-year-old Kaitlyn M. Heyden of rural Inwood was noticed at the bottom of the pool. Authorities don’t know how she got there. He says they don’t want to speculate on the cause of the incident yet, but they are following up on possible “pre-existing medical conditions”.
After local ambulance crews took Heyden to Sanford, Rock Rapids Hospital; she was soon airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital, where she has since passed away.
Sheriff Bloemendaal reports the incident is still under investigation.
