Granville Teen, Hull Woman And Passengers Escape Serious Injury In Sunday Accident

Sioux Center PD Charger Door Logo OnlySioux Center, Iowa — A Granville teen and three passengers and a Hull woman and her passenger apparently all escaped serious injury in an accident on Sunday (6/16/13) in Sioux Center.

The Sioux Center Police Department reports that about 9:30 PM, 18-year-old Alexes Utesch of Granville was northbound on Highway 75 near Ninth Street Southeast in a 1996 Plymouth. Thirty-six-year-old Marissa Van Donge of Hull was northbound on 75, in front of Utesch in a 2003 Chevy SUV.

The report says Van Donge stopped for a red light behind some vehicles at the Ninth Street stoplight. Utesch was unable to stop in time and rear-ended the Van Donge vehicle.

Utesch and her three passengers all reported shoulder pain, and Van Donge and her passenger both reported neck pain, but no one was immediately transported to a hospital.

Utesch’s Plymouth was totaled, with $900 damage. Van Donge’s Chevy SUV received $500 damage.

Utesch was charged with Failure to Stop Within the Assured Clear Distance.
