Date posted - May 8, 2013

fieldcrest assisted living 02Sheldon, Iowa — A Groundbreaking Ceremony for a major expansion to Fieldcrest Assisted Living Center in Sheldon is planned for Friday at 10:00 AM.  Fieldcrest Assisted Living Center will construct a $3,425,000 addition greatly expanding their facility.

Fieldcrest CEO Cal Diekmann tells us about the expansion plan.

The expansion will also create 13 new full time positions.

Diekmann says that it will take six to nine months to finish the work, and they expect it to be done before the end of the year.

The City of Sheldon has committed to extending street, water and sewer infrastructure to the new facility. Additionally, the City of Sheldon has purchased property adjacent to Fieldcrest and will install infrastructure to that area creating 16 new residential lots. This is significant for the community of Sheldon as it is the first project of several scheduled for the summer of 2013 in which the City of Sheldon will invest $8,225,000 in capital projects. The capital projects include a Downtown Streetscape Project, Trilogy Housing Development (16 residential lots), Sheldon Crossing Housing Development (57 residential lots), Highway 18 improvement project (widening and overlay), Country Club Road / East 9th Street Improvement Project, New Deep Well and numerous street repair and overlay projects.
