Date posted - May 10, 2013

Fieldcrest GroundbreakingSheldon, Iowa — Representatives of the City of Sheldon, the SCDC, and VistaPrairie Communities, as well as residents and staff of Fieldcrest Assisted Living Facility were on hand Friday morning as ground was broken for a major expansion to the Fieldcrest facility.

Morris Knopf  is the President of VistaPrairie Communities, the company that operates Fieldcrest, and described the upcoming expansion.

Knopf said that this expansion project marks a major investment in the Sheldon facility.

Knopf said the project will also add a number of full-time jobs for the facility.

Knopf went on to give a timetable for the construction project’s completion.

The City of Sheldon has committed to extending street, water and sewer infrastructure to the new facility. Additionally, the City has purchased property adjacent to Fieldcrest and will install infrastructure to that area creating 16 new residential lots. This is significant for the community of Sheldon, since it is the first project of several scheduled for the summer of 2013 in which the City of Sheldon will invest $8,225,000 in capital projects. The capital projects include a Downtown Infrastructure Project, Trilogy Housing Development (16 residential lots), Sheldon Crossing Housing Development (57 residential lots), Highway 18 improvement project (widening and overlay), Country Club Road/East 9th Street Improvement Project, New Deep Well and numerous street repair and overlay projects.
