Hartley Summerfest To Feature Vietnam Moving Wall

Hartley, Iowa — This year, the Hartley Summerfest is combining forces with the American Legion in Hartley, who are celebrating the centennial of the Legion.

We talked to the President of the American Legion Auxiliary in Hartley, Kathy Wacker, and she tells us how this got started.

She tells us about the “Moving Wall,” a replica of the Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial in Washington, DC.

The wall will be at Trinity UCC Church, at 140 Fifth Avenue in Hartley, and will be open, and under security 24-7 until it leaves.

She gives us an idea of what’s happening on Friday at Neebel Park and elsewhere.

Wacker says the Moving Wall is not the only military tribute in Hartley this weekend.

There are many events scheduled for Saturday, including a parade and a vendor fair. According to Wacker, there’s another touching event Saturday as well.

And, she says there will be fireworks on Saturday night.

Wacker gives us an idea of some of the other fun things going on in Hartley this weekend.
