Harvest A Little Slow, But Bountiful

JoelDeJong with soybeansNorthwest Iowa — Statewide, harvest is a little behind. But the good news is for the most part it’s been a great harvest so far.

We had a chance to talk to Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Agronomist Joel De Jong. He says rain showers have slowed progress somewhat.

He says the latest crop report says farmers haven’t harvested quite as much as is normal by this time of year.

De Jong says yield-wise northwest Iowa soybeans are doing very well.

De Jong says that not enough corn has been harvested yet to get good data, but early numbers are looking positive. He says it may not be as good as last year, but it looks like it’s going to be a good crop year for corn too.
