Hawarden Man Injured, Arrested After Rolling Pickup

Hawarden, Iowa — A Hawarden man was charged with OWI after he rolled his pickup on Sunday (7/29) near Hawarden.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 5:20 AM, 39-year-old Michael Wilkison of Hawarden was driving a 2002 Ford Ranger pickup southbound on Buchanan Avenue, about five miles south of Hawarden.
Wilkison reported that he fell asleep, and lost control of the pickup. The pickup rolled.
Upon further investigation, a deputy found Wilkison to be intoxicated. After treatment by Hawarden Hospital medical personnel, Wilkison was arrested for driving while intoxicated and failure to maintain control.
The Ford sustained about $8,000 in damages.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Hawarden Police Department.
