Homecoming Is This Week

Sheldon, Iowa — “Orabs Got Game.” That’s the theme for Homecoming 2018 at Sheldon Community Schools.

As part of Homecoming Week, there is a special dress code theme for each day. Monday is “Twister Day”, and students and staff are encouraged to dress in mismatched clothing for the day. On Tuesday the theme is “Life – Future Occupation” and students are encouraged to dress appropriately for their future occupation. 

The Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned during a Coronation Ceremony scheduled for 8:00 Tuesday evening at the O-rena. The 2018 Queen Candidates are Ashlyn Albrecht, Mary Margaret Borer, Gracie Elgersma, Annie Groeneweg, and Trista Helmers. King Candidates include Bryant Dykstra, Andy Fjeld, Jesse Hickman, Marshall Kleinhesselink, and Tyler Lode.

Wednesday of Homecoming Week has been proclaimed “Battleship Day”, with each class wearing their designated color of clothing. Seniors will be dressed in white, Juniors in gray, Sophomores in red, Freshman in blue, and Staff in purple.

Thursday is Twin Day, with Friday proclaimed “Orange & Black Day.”

Friday’s Homecoming activites include “Games on the Green” outside, weather permitting, with lunch served at the football field. There will be an afternoon Talent Show and a Pep Rally. Friday’s Homecoming Football Game will be preceeded by the FFA Tailgate Supper, and recognition of Homecoming candidates. The Homecoming football game finds the Dutch of MOC-Floyd Valley entering Orab Field to take on the Orabs.

Homecoming week will wrap up with the annual Homecoming Dance that begins after the game and continues until 11:30 Friday night in the high school commons.
