Hospers Fire Department Gets Nearly $75,000 In Grants

Hospers, Iowa — This is Fire Prevention Week in the U.S. And one area fire department is making public some good news this week.

According to officials with the Hospers Fire Department, that department has received a federal grant.

They tell us that they received a $73,000 grant through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, which was instituted after the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Hospers Fire officials tell us the money will go toward replacement of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus or “SCBA” air packs that they tell us were becoming outdated.

That was actually one of two recent good news items for the Hospers Fire Department. They reported last week that Perspective Insurance agent Kurt List presented them with a $1,500 check. They say that money was awarded from a Farmers Mutual grant.

Hospers Firefighters invite you to celebrate with them at their annual pancake supper on Thursday night. Serving will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Hospers Community Building.
