Hudson Man Charged With Felony Assault After Friday Incident

Rural Rock Valley, Iowa — A Hudson, South Dakota man has been charged with felony assault after an incident on Friday night.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that just before 10 PM that night, they received the report of a domestic disturbance that occurred at a residence 12 miles southwest of Rock Valley.
Upon further investigation deputies discovered that 53-year-old Rodney Osterkamp of Hudson had committed an assault by choking a person that lived at the residence. Following the assault, Osterkamp left the area and could not be located.
Less than three hours later, just into Saturday, about 12:35 AM, Osterkamp was arrested as a result of a traffic stop that occurred in Emmet County, Iowa. He was held at the Emmet County Jail. Osterkamp was later transported to the Sioux County Jail where he was charged with Class D felony domestic assault.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Sioux County Conservation, Iowa State Patrol and the EmmetCounty Sheriff’s Office.
