Hull Fire Department Extinguishes Field Fire

Middleburg, Iowa — The Hull Fire Department was called out to a fire on Thursday, November 30, 2017 near Middleburg.

According to Hull Fire Chief Greg Van Roekel, about 3:05 p.m., the Hull Fire Department was called to the report of a field fire near 3543 360th Street, about a mile northwest of Middleburg.

The chief says the fire department saw the field on fire as they approached the scene. He says the patch on fire was about 200 feet by 200 feet, plus some ditch grass, and they used water and tillage equipment to fight the fire.

Van Roekel says no injuries were reported.

He says the cause of the fire is undetermined, but before the fire, people had been working on a truck nearby.

Chief Van Roekel reports that the damage was limited to crop stubble and ditch grass.

He says they used about 500 gallons of water to fight the fire, and crews were on scene for about twenty minutes.
