Hull Man Arrested On Several Charges After Accident

Sioux Sheriff Car 84-Hull, Iowa — A Hull man was arrested on several charges, but avoided injury as the result of a traffic stop near Hull.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 7:25 PM, 50-year-old Scott Van Lo of Hull was driving a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer eastbound on Highway 18, three miles west of Hull, when he lost control of the vehicle, which entered the south ditch and struck a MidAmerican Energy utility pole.

Upon further investigation, deputies determined that Van Lo had been operating the vehicle while intoxicated.

No injuries were reported.

The Mercury sustained approximately $6,000 in damages. The utility pole sustained an estimated $4,000 in damages.

Van Lo was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated; open container, failure to maintain control, and no insurance.
