Huseman To Seek Another Term

Des Moines, Iowa — The State Representative who serves District 3 has announced that he plans to seek re-election in the fall.

Dan Huseman is from Aurelia and his district covers all of O’Brien and Cherokee counties and eastern townships in Sioux and Plymouth counties.

Huseman tells us about his decision to run again.

He says this week in the legislature has been a funnel week, which means that in order for a bill to remain alive it has to pass from a House or Senate committee. But it doesn’t apply to appropriations or tax bills. He tells us that one of the bills that passed out of a committee he sits on is a K-12 transportation bill.

He says both the House and Senate bills that would partially reinstate the death penalty have been pulled from consideration for this year. A bill dealing with life beginning at conception, and one making abortion illegal once a heartbeat has been detected are both still alive and will continue to pass through various committees in both chambers, says Huseman.

He says healthcare continues to be a hot topic.

Huseman says anytime you have a question or a problem, he encourages you to contact him or your legislator, because they are there to serve.
