Ihnen Resigns From Sheldon School Board

Sheldon-Schools-logoSheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Community School District’s Board of Education met in special session at 8:00 Wednesday morning to formally accept the resignation  of one of their members.

Former Board President Gary Ihnen had submitted a letter of resignation, effective November 1st, after serving on the Board for more than 15 years.  In his resignation letter, Ihnen expressed his gratitude for the community’s support of the District.  He wrote, “Without that support there would be no new middle school or soon to be remodeled and expanded East Elementary.”  He went on to write that, “I am grateful to all those involved that allowed me to play a small part in it.”

The Board opted to attempt to fill the vacant seat by appointing a replacement to fill out Ihnen’s term.  Anyone 2nd District resident who is interested in serving on the School Board can obtain an appointment form, as well as a District map of Sheldon, by seeing Board Secretary LaDonn Hartzell at the Sheldon High School, or by downloading these documents below.  It should be noted that only residents of Sheldon’s 2nd District are eligible to serve out the remainder of Ihnen’s term.  If you have any questions, you can contact LaDonn Hartzell at the Sheldon High School.
