Informational Meetings Set On HMS Bond Issue

Hartley, Iowa — Voters in the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Community Schools will go to the polls on April 3rd to decide the future of an $18.9-million bond issue to fund improvements to all district facilities, including the Elementary, Middle School, and High Schools.

In an effort to inform voters about the project, a group called Citizens For HMS will be holding some informational meetings in the coming days. The first of these meetings is scheduled for this Thursday, March 22nd, with a session at 5:30pm at the Melvin Legion Hall, and another session at 7:30pm at the Sanborn Middle School. The third of the three-meeting series is scheduled for 7:00pm Tuesday, March 27th at the HMS High School Events Center.

In addition, the Citizens For HMS group will be hosting commuunity coffee events over the next couple of weeks to give voters more opportunity to get the facts about the proposed bond issue. The next coffee sessions will be Tuesday, March 27th, from 7:00 to 9:00 am at MaeB’s/Grounded in Hartley, and from 9:00 to 11:00am at the Sanborn Community Building. Another round of coffee events will take place Monday, April 2nd from 7:00 to 9:00am at Red’s Cafe in Hartley, and from 9:00 to 11:00am at the Sanborn Community Building.
