Law Enforcement Lightbar redInwood, Iowa — An Inwood woman was taken to the hospital after an accident on Friday afternoon (10/18/13) near Inwood.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 5:10 PM, 39-year-old Valerie Faber of Inwood was driving a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix southbound on Highway 182, about two miles north of Inwood. Twenty-year-old Erin Groeneweg of Rock Valley was also southbound behind Faber a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix.

Faber was approaching a slow-moving tractor, which was also southbound. Groeneweg did not realize that Faber had slowed down so quickly and at the last minute took evasive action in order not to rear-end the Faber car. Groeneweg swerved into the northbound lane, and began to lose control of her car. As she tried to correct her steering, her vehicle sideswiped Faber’s car. Groeneweg then lost control of her vehicle, which entered the east ditch and rolled, coming to a rest on its top.

Faber was able to maintain control of her vehicle and came to a stop on the roadway.

She was transported to the hospital via private vehicle.

Faber’s Pontiac sustained approximately $3,000 in damages and Groeneweg’s Pontiac sustained approximately $2,500 in damages.

Groeneweg was cited for Failure to Maintain Control.

The Inwood Fire Department and Inwood Rescue personnel assisted the Lyon County Sheriff’s Department.
