Iowa DNR Takes Action Against Violators

Ken Less of Plymouth County is to pay a $3000 penalty for submitting a phosphorus index manure management plan after the deadline. The penalty has been paid.
Ted Smith of Buena Vista County, doing business as TJS Farms was ordered to ensure all employees are properly certified in manure handling and pay a $5000 penalty for past violations. The penalty has been paid in this case as well.
Brian Anderson doing business as Northwest Ready Mix in Milford is to pay a $1000 penalty for open burning of solid waste.
BCB Ag, LLC of Lyon County was ordered to ensure that all employees are properly certified to haul, apply, or otherwise handle manure and pay a $3000 penalty.
Jochum Agri-Services, Incorporated of Plymouth County was ordered to pay a $3000 penalty for manure application violations that led to a manure discharge to a water of the state.
Two Sioux County men were also ordered to pay fines. Arnie Gruens, doing business as Triple A Pumping will pay a $5000 penalty for violations resulting from a manure discharge from the land application of manure. Evert Van Maanen was ordered to immediately cease open burning and open dumping of solid waste and pay $1000 penalty. That penalty has also been paid.
